Studying sports in France
You can study and work in the sport field in France. In this case, you can choose to go to the University in the STAPS (Sciences et Techniques des Activités Physiques et Sportives) programme.
Be careful, those programmes are proposed only in French.
Licence STAPS
The STAPS Bachelor is proposed in more than 50 Universities in France. In this programme, you will study theory and practice of sports, biology and social sciences. One or more internships are proposed all along the cursus.
There are five pathways in the STAPS degree:
- Physical activities adapted to health aiming to manage the physical activity of specific needs persons;
- Education and motricity for those who choose to be teacher in order to prepare the French Teaching Examinations (CAPEPS);
- Sport management in order to work for companies and organisations;
- Sports training programme to prepare the student to become a trainer;
- Sport ergonomy et motricity performances to conceive sport or leisure material in a company or in a research laboratory. This programme is proposed in few universities only;
Please note that sport itself only represents one third of the programme, depending on the institutions. After your Bachelor, it is possible to continue your studies in a Master programme in different fields (management, leisure, health, tourism etc.)
